Interesting mounting tip

From: ltrboxingrichters (ltrboxingrichters@yahoo.com) | Date: 2004-07-15 21:21:27 UTC
We found a hitch hiker while we were letterboxing on vacation.

They had mounted their stamp to the top of the stamp pad. It was a
small stamp so they had mounted it to one of those small pads you can
buy. It was perfect.

When we got home I did this with my kids personal stamp. They're
always having trouble keeping up with all the different things they
need.

I've seen people do this too, but there was a problem that they
hadn't anticipated, when the inkpad wore out, it ended up not being
replacable, so they were stuck with a stamp on a dry pad that took up
much more space than needed.

Was it the Atlanta HH? I made it that way.

That's why I mounted it to a removable lid, not the hinge kind. That
way you could just use the top on another ink pad and not have to
worry about lugging around the dry one.

No, it was the "New England Pumpkin." It's been circulating since 2/2002.

Actually the pads that my kids have are those"Rubber Stampede" pads. You can buy them anywhere and the lids are interchangeable. Also, you can buy the ink to refill pads.

No it was a traveling event stamp. I don't remember which for sure.
